Vietti, on the side of Sughero.org. Recovering corks for the future of the Planet.

Good. For the environment, people and the future. This is the spirit that identifies the Vietti brand, directing daily choices toward sustainability and projects that care about the well-being of the Earth and the next generations. So Vietti has chosen to be on the side of Sughero.org, an organization that saves corks before they become waste. After consumption, there is in fact direct recycling that allows them to be given a new life. The corks, thanks then to the Artimestieri Social Cooperative, are used for soundproofing panels, green building, sustainable clothing and bio-furniture, with the promise of making life healthier inside homes and, consequently, a reduction in waste, consumption and pollution. But that’s not all. In fact, a new campaign is active – Save the Cap – which involves overcompensating for the CO2 emissions caused by transporting the caps and products sold by the cooperative by planting a tree for each shipment.

Vietti supports the first edition of the Italian Plogging Championships

Asti will host the first edition of the Italian Team Plogging Championship on Sunday, June 23. Specifically, it means the practice of picking up abandoned waste found in one’s path while engaged in jogging, running or other sports activities. A virtuous and sustainable idea that originated from Roberto Cavallo, the soul of E.R.I.C.A. SOC.COOP. and A.I.C.A – International Association for Environmental Communication and Erik Ahlström, the father of the name. As in 2023, Vietti chooses to support and endorse the initiative again this year. But that’s not all. To run the championship, a winery team will also be present with the goal of cleaning the Earth while running. An action apt to ensure and preserve the future to the next generation. Indeed, care, but above all sustainability, which is one of the souls that distinguishes the Vietti brand, is not limited to the care of the vine that we apply every day but to respect for the Earth we inhabit, our home. The day on Sunday, June 23, will feature twenty teams from all over Italy, composed of four ploggers and two reserves, according to the principles of gender parity. The winner will then be able to take part in the World Team Plogging Championship scheduled for September 28 in Gandino, in the province of Bergamo. Good luck to the Vietti team.

Vintage 2023

In a vintage marked by extreme weather events, the Barolo Langa was fortunate to be spared from most of them. The winemaker’s experience was put to the test, which made a qualitative and quantitative difference in this vintage. We started the harvest in early September with the Timorasso: very fresh grapes with vibrant acidity and average sugar content. Around September 15 it was time for the Arneis: lower yields due to the hailstorm in early July, but great elegance and balance. Also in mid-September it was time for Dolcetto: very ripe grapes with fruity notes, typical of this historical variety of our lands. Barbera completed its ripening around September 25 and was a great surprise, especially from an organoleptic point of view, presenting itself in our opinion with exceptional aging potential due mainly to its freshness and lower concentration. The Barbaresco and Barolo harvests began on September 30 and ended for Vietti on October 18. To the resistance, typical of Nebbiolo, were added other characteristics that made the difference in a vintage like this one. Indeed, the vine was able to react and adapt positively to every situation. The harvest, besides being generous, was also balanced in terms of quantity: this has not happened for at least two years. The first sensations are that the tannins have really reached full maturity, a fundamental and not taken for granted characteristic that in the cellar will allow us to move freely between our much-loved submerged cap vinifications. These favor balance, elegance and intensity, respecting the individual great terroirs we are fortunate to have. Tired but very satisfied.

Vietti supports the fourth edition of the World Plogging Championship

The World Plogging Championship returns in its fourth edition: a running & collecting of abandoned waste race. The first event will be held on September 28, in the trails of Val Gandino, and will involve 80 athletes who will have six hours to collect and bring to the finish line as much waste as possible. The opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, September 27.  Bergamo, on the other hand, will host the Urban Plogging race, which will take place on Sunday, September 29, where 40 athletes will compete in the streets of the city.  Thus, the Vietti brand continues to care for the Earth every day in the vineyard, and supports initiatives that focus on sustainability and respect for our planet.  Good luck to all contestants, Vietti supports you.

Vinous’s Antonio Galloni rewards Vietti’s quality

Once again, our wines, the result of teamwork that begins in the countryside and ends in the glass, have been recognized for their qualities. Confirming Vietti’s commitment and care are Antonio Galloni’s Vinous scores. Among others, Barbera d’Asti 2021 La Crena 96 points according to Antonio Galloni “The Barbera d’Asti La Crena 2021 is outstanding. Bright, red-toned fruit, chalk, mint, white pepper and rose petal are all beautifully delineated. In recent times Vietti has focused more on freshness in his Barberas, and this is particularly evident in La Crena […]. Clean, mineral notes extend the vibrant finish. Give it a few years to develop the full range of its aromatic breadth. What a wine!” Timorasso Derthona 2021 92 points according to Antonio Galloni “Vietti’s Timorasso 2021 is stunning. […] The 2021 shows an additional level of structural finesse that is particularly evident in its contours. Hints of lemon zest, white flowers, mint and chamomile embellish this layered and super expressive white. The 2021 was fermented primarily in ceramic and steel, with only one batch in wood. I’ve never been a big fan of Vietti Timorasso, but the 2021 may change my mind. It is a wonderful wine in every way.” Below are all the scores: Barolo Riserva Villero 2016: 96 points Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2020: 96 points Barbera d’Asti La Crena 2021: 96 points Barolo Cerequio 2020: 95+ points Barbera d’Alba Vigna Scarrone Vecchia 2021: 95 points Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà 2019: 95 points Barbaresco Roncaglie 2020: 94+ points Barolo Brunate 2020: 94 points Barbera d’Alba Vigna Scarrone 2021: 94 points Barolo Ravera 2020: 94 points Barolo Castiglione 2020: 93 points Barolo Lazzarito 2020: 93 points Barolo Monvigliero 2020: 92 points Timorasso 2021: 92 points Barolo Riserva 2016: 92 points Barbera d’Asti Tre Vigne 2021: 92 points Barbera d’Alba Tre Vigne 2021: 91 points Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco 2021: 90 points

Pruning time

We are in the vineyard. Here, our team, which has been dedicated to vine care for more than 20 years, is pruning. This is a practice that begins with winter, during the plant’s vegetative rest, and continues until its awakening, which will occur in spring with the first buds. Winter pruning, also known as dry pruning, allows the future of the grape to be defined now.

Sharing to grow together

This has always been Vietti’s attitude, which, once again, we expressed at the sales force meeting for the Italy market. A day together to celebrate our achievements and look forward to new goals. An opportunity to say thank you to all those who, through their efforts, reach customers and consumers. The same ones who are part of a single project and accomplices in the enhancement of the Vietti brand.

The rest of the vine

It is called ‘vegetative rest’ and denotes the time coinciding with the winter season when the plant minimizes lymphatic activity and, aided by falling temperatures, is totally inactive. Like a deep sleep. To the eye, in fact, the vine, leafless and now naked, is motionless. Its work continues silently. Under the ground, in the warmth, where, as of now, we prepare for a new budding.

Wine is always memory

Memory of a territory, a vineyard and a specific vintage. But it can also be the memory of a moment shared with one’s family or friends. Wine transcends the emotion of the moment and can become a tale to be passed on. Wine sometimes represents us or connects to the snapshots of our lives. A wine can be a message, a wish. A wine can be a legacy of values. Our wine is all of this.

Castiglione Falletto: our home, the home of wine

Castiglione Falletto’s history begins in Roman times and it is easy to understand its strategic motive: it stands on a 350-meter hill and dominates the territory in every direction. But it is in the Middle Ages under the control of the Marquis of Saluzzo and specifically the Falletto family that the construction of a real quadrangular fortress characterizes its destiny. Feudal lords alternated, then France and finally the House of Savoy until the Unification of Italy. At the foot of the castle dominates our old Scarrone vineyard, with a privileged view to the southeast, then in the direction of Serralunga. Here the Barbera clusters shine in September when the veraison takes hold. A brightness that persists on the palate when the fruit has made wine.
